Week 12
The structure I plan on using for my final paper is just mixing all of my research proposal all together in one and add some things that I may have left out. I will add things based on the assignment requirements and see how I can fit those in the best. I am worried about the transitioning, but hopefully I will be able to work this out so that it is good.

Concerns about final paper
My main concern is getting the full 12 pages of length. And now which themes to blend together from my research proposal.

Week 11
Taking a step back I think that the easiest thing was finding the sources, but the hardest was that I picked my thesis after I found my research. So I kind of had to form my research into certain aspects that met my research question. The blogs have helped me see how I have changed through the course of my research and how I have learned more.

Box 30
I found an article from the Ball State Daily News titled "Making Your Marks" by Renita Jones. It gives the history of tattooing, which is going to be valuable to me because I have not found any academic sources that go as far into detail as this article did. Also It relates to some of my research about how popular tattooing is getting. It relates directly to my research question by giving points of view from Ball State students. The article starts with the oldest time known about tattooing, 2 centuries ago with the Polynesians, and detailed information about the progression of tattooing to modern day. This relates to my research because I read two articles about cultures other than American tattooing. The article showed how the Polynesian culture, which was a long time ago differed from modern American tattooing culture. This goes along with my research because I read about the Cook Islands and Maori Tattooing and compared and contrasted with what I thought of modern day American culture tattooing. The article talks about what it takes to become an artist and some legality of the profession.

Reflection to Week 10
Gun - machine used by tattoo artists' to place tattoos on customers.
Getting touched up - when a tattoo fades a customer will go back into a tattoo shop and get it drawn on again.
Tramp stamp - A popular tattoo located on the lower back of girls.
Ink - ink used to create a tattoo, but is another word for tattoo.
Tat - another word for tattoo
outlining - the outlining of the tattoo, all letter designs use outlining.
shading - the shading inside of the outlining.
tribal - popular tattoo that has many points and edges
virgin - person who has never received a tattoo
design - the tattoo on paper
Everyone seemed to know these definitions. I think the reason for this is because the culture is so popular that many people use these definitions and people outside the culture also use these definitions.

Week 9 blog question
I think my contribution to my community is positive attributes that help its image. I am sick of people looking at people with tattoos badly, so I have come up with a research question that handles this. I think that when people think of tattooed people they think of deviant behavior. But there are many situations that I plan to discuss with people who may belong or be an outsider, they may not know. With these positive attributes it will help show that the community is not associated with bad people.
